Volunteer Profiles

Donovan Bigwood
In May 2005, following 14 years of service with the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Donovan became a volunteer at the RUH offering his time as a Volunteer Guide. Here he directs patients and visitors to the wards or departments they are attending and if need be he takes them right up to the reception point. Donovan also helps with pushing patients that require wheelchair use.

When asked why he volunteered, Donovan said “I get a feeling of satisfaction in helping those with ill health, the majority of who appreciate the guide’s efforts. This is often the case with elderly people who can be stressed and confused.”

As well as volunteering Donovan enjoys walking and wine tasting.
