Past Friends Donations

Over the past year the Friends have refurbished many day rooms and relative rooms around the hospital to make patient and visitors stay in hospital a little more comfortable. The Friends have also bought much needed equipment that could not have otherwise been purchased.

Over the past years here is a selection of some of the things the Friends have donated:

• Refurbishment of the Fracture Clinic Waiting room - £30,000.

• £38,000 to refurnish and decorated Diabetic Waiting room.

• Funded self contained accommodation for relatives room in Intensive Care.

• £30,000 scanner for early diagnosis of bowel Cancer.

• £110,00 for Defibrillators – these save lives. The Friends donated defibrillators for every ward in the hospital in order to cut down the delay in resuscitating patients who have a heart attack.

• Money towards Hospital Radio which provides a service on the wards. This can really cheer a patient up when they are staying in hospital.

• Each year the Friends give money for the Hedgehog Club Children’s Christmas party for children staying in hospital at this time.

• £140,000 for the High Dependency Unit – This is a highly skilled unit to provide care for patients well enough to leave Intensive Care but not sufficiently recovered to be transferred to another ward.

• Aquaciser £10,000 – This machine greatly improves the condition of orthopaedic patients to enable them to return to an active life.

• £30,000 donation for patients diagnosis in the Breast Clinic.

• £182,000 – Monitors for the Intensive Care Unit.

• £40,000 – 20 Pain control machines for the acute pain service to help releave patients with chronic pain.

• Medical Short Stay Ward - £2700 for the patients and relatives room.
